Why technicians are using Gel?
The Gel creates bond between the skin and the ultrasound probe in order to eliminate the air between the two and allow ultrasound waves through. Ultrasound Gel is hypoallergenic, clear, odor free and will not stain your clothes.
Why do you need to fast for Abdominal Ultrasound?
You need to fast (no eating, no drinking coffee, no chewing, gum or tobacco, you may drink water and tea, without sugar) for 6 hours before your Abdominal Ultrasound in order for the technician to get good quality images. Normally, intestines are filled with air and ingested food, among other things, limiting the view of organs by ultrasound. The intestines are almost empty after fasting period, which allows technician to obtain adequate images.

How long does it take to receive test results?
While the results of the test are dependent on the specific test being performed, we pride ourselves on expertise and efficiency. Our technicians send test results to board-certified physicians for interpretation upon completion of an exam. Finalized reports are sent to physicians within 24-48 hours of exam completion. Patients can then schedule an appointment with the physician to discuss the results of the exam.
